Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

EMDR Therapy is a psychological treatment that may help people heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are consequences of adverse life experiences or traumatic memories.  EMDR Therapy is a Level 1 evidence-based treatment for PTSD.  Research is also starting to show that EMDR Therapy may be effective in assisting with other mental health challenges.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a task-based approach for treating mental health challenges, which focuses on using skills and techniques to alter negative thoughts and behaviours.  Psychoeducation, which is learning about the mental health challenge that you’re experiencing, is an important part of CBT.  The combination of knowledge, and actively using skills and techniques, can hold a powerful potential for change.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is about purposefully paying attention to present-moment events within or around yourself, in a manner that is non-judgmental, accepting, and non-reactive.  As you learn to be the guide of your own mind, you may help yourself to lessen suffering associated with anxiety, stress, depression and other mental health challenges.  Mindfulness is integrated into the main therapeutic approaches at Satori Place of Awakening as needed.
